Thanks to Local Farms and Farmers for Our Thanksgiving Bounty

Dear Agriculture,

Two_women_truck

We'll put your gift to work supporting local farmers and helping protect farmland - donate today!

We hope your Thanksgiving meal next week is filled with fresh and local flavors like native turkey, tart cranberries, apples from a near-by orchard, farm fresh pumpkin for pies or just-picked butternut squash.

But factors like development pressures and the current economic crisis threaten the future of America's local farms and farmland that provide our Thanksgiving bounty.  Farmers ability to provide local food is more important than ever -- that is why we need your support to help continue our programs working with farmers and communities across the country and promoting the protection of farmland that's at the heart of our local farm and food economy!

Give today to help support farms and farmers and protect the farmland that provides fresh, locally grown food for our Thanksgiving meals.

We've just embarked on the Growing Local campaign that will continue our cutting-edge work with communities by planning for agriculture and supporting local farms and local food.  One thing is clear:  if we don't have local farms and farmland, we won't have local food. That's why you and I must act today ... to protect the farmland that puts food on our tables tomorrow.

Make a tax-deductible year-end gift today ... and help launch our Growing Local efforts.

And for all of your support, past and present, let me say from all of us at American Farmland Trust:  "Thank you!"

Sincerely,

Julia Freedgood
