Take the Keep It Local Pledge to Support Local Farms and Food

American Farmland Trust
Local Food at the Farmers Market

Love Local Food? Make a Commitment to Local Farms

Dear Agriculture,

Take the Keep It Local PledgeAre you enjoying all the fresh and delicious foods the summer has to offer? Dazzling arrays of farm fresh products are arriving by the truckloads to thousands of local markets, farm stands, grocery stores and restaurants around the country. But the farms that supply local markets are also some of the most threatened in the nation.

We need to keep our local farms thriving! Take the Keep It Local pledge and make a commitment to support your local farms and ranches.

Rising global food demand, spiking food and fuel prices and the ever-present threat of development are pressuring America’s farmers and ranchers like never before.

You can help. Take action by making a commitment to buy locally with the Keep It Local pledge. Challenge yourself to try new recipes, seek out new varieties of fruits and vegetables grown nearby and ask more questions about the food you’re buying.

By becoming aware of where your food comes from, you can start making decisions that support local farmers and ranchers, farmland protection and your local economy. And along the way you’ll also enjoy some of the freshest foods of the season!

Sincerely,
Bob Wagner
