FARM BILL TELECONFERENCE SCHEDULED

FARM BILL TELECONFERENCE SCHEDULED The Food Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 is finally law and the USDA is in the process of writing the rules and regulations. Arkansas Farm Bureau is hosting a farm bill information meeting via video conference on July 17, 2008 from 10 am to 12 pm at 18 locations around the state. By using video technology, we are able to provide information from individuals who have first hand experience in the creation of the 2008 farm bill. Mary Kay Thatcher, Director of Public Policy for American Farm Bureau, Clark Ogilvie, Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Farm Commodities and Risk Management of the House Agriculture Committee, and Dr. Eric Wailes, Professor of Agricultural Economics with the University of Arkansas will participate in the conference. The speakers will cover the reforms of the commodity title, the new disaster program, the conservation title and go in depth on the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program.
