Subject: Morning Manna June 24: BP: Ps. 40; RBTTY: Acts 7:22-43; Job

June 24                                                                 “Stand Up and Say It”

“I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, You know.  I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart.  I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation.  I have not concealed Your loving-kindness and Your truth from the great congregation.”
                                                                                            Psalm 40:9-10
If He’s touched you, don’t hide it; tell someone else.
Let’s suppose you get a call today telling you you’d just inherited $1 million from a dear relative.  The attorney for the estate instructs you on how to go about getting it.  You go down to his office, sign the necessary papers, receive a check and then go to the bank to cash or deposit it.

     Great!  Then what?
Will you go home. . .kiss your wife, husband or kids hello. . .sit down and eat a bite of supper. . .kick back in your favorite chair. . .watch a little television. . .and go to bed like nothing had happened?

Not on your life unless you’re wanting to keep it a secret!
No, if you’re like most folks, you’ll get up off the floor at work (after your coworkers revive you from fainting) and you’ll immediately get on the phone.

“Hey, Sweetheart, we’re rich!  Unbelievably rich!  Uncle George just died and left us $1 million!  No, I’m not kidding!  He did!  $1 million!  Can you believe it?!?  Quick go get the kids and meet me at the attorney’s office.  After we get the check and deposit it we’re going out on the town.  We’re going to go to the finest restaurant in town.  Then, we’ll take the kids shopping.  And, we might even go get that brand-new car, with everything on it, that you’ve been wanting for a long time!”

     That’s more likely, isn’t it?
     Without a doubt.
Why, then, dear Pilgrim, are we so tight-lipped and reserved when the God of the universe has reached down and plucked us from “horrible pit of miry clay, put our feet on the rock and put without our mouths a new song of praise” (Ps. 40:1-3)?  Why should we be more excited about an unexpected gift of $1 million that we are the gift of eternal life?

     We shouldn’t.
Instead, we should say with David, “I delight to do Your will, O my God” (v.8a).  Then, we should eagerly declare all He’s done for us and “not refrain (Heb. ‘kala’‘to restrict, hold back, retain, shut up, etc.’) our lips and refuse to tell others of His righteousness, faithfulness, salvation, loving-kindness and truth.”

Why not ask the Holy Spirit to empower you today to openly share with someone else what great things the Lord has done for you?  Not only will that invigorate you and inspire them, it’ll also bring great joy to the Savior’s heart.  Glory!!
