Ever thought that farms and ranches could be the key to clean, safe drinking water? Neither did the folks in New York City until faced with the expense of a multi-million dollar water filtration plant. But the better solution turned out to be working together with Catskill Mountain farmers on managing their land in healthy ways to keep New York City drinking water clean and safe.

Support our work to keep the water clean and the land healthy.

American Farmland Trust was in New York to help farmers solve the safe drinking water challenge—and is on the ground across the country working with farmers to reduce the use of pesticides and crop nutrients that can flow into rivers, streams and estuaries. In fact, with your support and our efforts, we’ve helped farmers eliminate the use of pesticides and crop nutrients on more than two million acresthat’s more than 65 acres of healthier orchards and fields for you and every other person reading this e-mail!

Give today to keep the land—and our water—healthy.

In 2008 we’ve set our sights on reaching more farmers and ensuring healthy practices on more acres—our goal for next year is to reduce pesticide and crop nutrient use on another 150,000 acres of working farm and ranch land. American Farmland Trust educates farmers on how they can adopt environmentally responsible farming practices that are healthy for the land and for the food you eat—good news for your produce and for the water you brush your teeth with every morning!

Give today to help more farmers adopt healthy farming practices.

Sincerely,
