Subject: Morning Manna for July 21 & 22

HELLO AGAIN, PILGRIM:
I'm going to be out of e-mail accessibility until Sunday evening, so
thought I'd go ahead and send you the "Morning Manna" for July 21 & 22. As
always, I pray the Lord Jesus will richly bless you through them and assist
you in your daily walk of faith. I'll look forward to being back with you
in a couple of days, the Lord willing.
In Jesus' Magnificent Love,
Bro. Tom

Morning Manna (July 21); BP: Ps. 19; RBTTY: Acts 23:1-15; Ps. 29-30

July 21 “Safe and Secure”

“. . .the Judgments of the Lord are true and righteous
altogether.”
Psalm 19:9b
When it comes to God’s Word, it’s much better to nurture our faith
rather than entertaining our doubts.
No one needs to tell us that ours is the “Age of Skepticism.” Anymore
it doesn’t matter the subject; the bottom-line reaction for some most always
is “Prove it!” And, sadly, this doubt and distrust stems from having been
burned one time too many by someone they trusted. However, today’s Manna
reminds us that we need never approach God’s Word with such atheistic
apprehension.

Long before older-timers of another generation were practicing “My word
is my bond,” the God of the universe was saying “Trust Me.” And, long
before deals were sealed with a handshake, God’s promises were sealed by an
oath: “I cannot and will lie” (Heb. 6:16-17). Hallelujah!!

Yes, dear Pilgrim, the “Judgments (Heb. ‘misphat’—‘verdict, degree,
Divine, law, ordinance, etc.’) of the Lord are true (Heb.
‘emeth’—‘stability, certainty, trustworthiness, assurance, etc.’) and
righteous (Heb. ‘tsadaq’—‘to be right, just, righteous, make right, etc.’)
altogether.” Simply put, we never have to wonder if someone will find a
loophole in His mandates; neither do we need to fret that one day He might
change His mind, leaving us in a lurch (James 1:17b).

What does this mean on a daily basis?
It means we’ll never encounter a situation where “the Lord’s not our
Shepherd” (Ps. 23:1). It also means there’ll never be a time when He’s not
our “Light and our Salvation . . . our Refuge and Strength. . .the Way, the
Truth and the Light. . .and One Who’s ashamed to call us ‘brothers and
sisters’” (Ps. 27:1; 46:1; Jn. 14:6; Heb. 2:11). Glory!!

Likewise, woe to him who believes God has changed in His Judgments
toward sin. Truly, “the wages of sin are still death” (Rom. 6:23). It’s
still “appointed unto man once to die and, after this, the Judgment” (Heb.
9:27). The way of salvation is still through the blood of Jesus, God’s
“Passover Lamb.” And, those who refuse to place their trust in Christ will
one day hear Him say, “Depart from Me, you worker of iniquity; I never knew
you” (Mt. 7:21-23) as they are cast into “the lake of fire, which is the
second death” (Rev. 20:11-15).

Someone once said, “The Lord said it. I believe it. And, that settles
it.” Shortly thereafter, someone else wrote, “Much better if we say: The
Lord said it—and that settles it. . .for it doesn’t matter whether we
believe it or not. . .for His Judgments are true and righteous altogether.”
So true, so true.

The Apostle Paul summed up David’s words in this way: “For all the
promises of God in Him (Jesus) are ‘Yea’ and in Him ‘Amen,’ unto the glory
of God by us” (II Cor. 1:20). May the Holy Spirit help us to rest in this
assurance today.

Morning Manna (July 22); BP: Ps. 19; RBTTY: Acts 23:16-35; Ps. 31-32

July 22 “How Sweet It Is”

“More to be desired are they than gold—yea, than much fine gold; sweeter
also than honey and the honeycomb.”
Psalm 19:10
When we truly love Him, we’ll also love His Word.
David knew nothing about artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes.
Being an outdoorsman-shepherd, there’d likely been times he came across a
beehive in an old log or hollow tree. And, he’d probably learned the secret
of using smoke to calm the bees so he could get to the delectable honey and
honeycomb.

That’s why he penned today’s Manna with such assertiveness and
assurance—for, to him, God’s Word was/is much “sweeter than honey and the
honeycomb.” Later on the author of Psalm 119 would say, “How sweet are Your
words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (v.103). Just as
these complex carbohydrates leave a sweet taste in our mouths and give us a
feeling of satisfaction, so do God’s Precious Promises give us an inward
assurance of serenity, security and stability.

In contrasting God’s Word with “gold—yea, fine gold (24-karat
gold)”—David was talking of the great value of His “Law, Testimony,
Statutes, Commandments and Judgments” (vv.7-9). Simply put, long after all
of the world’s gold has faded from view, the Word of God will still be
“enduring forever” (Is. 40:7-8). And, all those who’ve built their lives
upon this Word will also find themselves doing the same (Mt. 7:24-27).
Hallelujah!!

Thus, the picture is clear: God’s Word is both “palatable” and
“precious.” It is both “tasty” and “treasured”—but only to those who’ve
found it to be so. And, that can only happen when we walk in communion with
the Lord and long to “hide His Word in our heart so we won’t sin against
Him” (Ps. 119:11).

Until then, God’s Word is a “closed Book,” seemingly out-of-date and
out-of-touch with our modern generation. Its stories are antiquated and its
accounts of miracles far-fetched—at least to those who approach it with a
rational mind and hardened heart.

Only those who’ve “tasted of the Lord”—i.e., “been enlightened,
experienced first-hand the Heavenly gift, been made partakers of the Holy
Spirit, etc.” (Heb. 6:4-5)—can say “the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8a). And,
only through trusting in Him are we “blessed and kept in perfect peace” (Ps.
34:8b; Is. 26:3).

Dear Pilgrim, is God’s Word a part of your daily diet? Do you
“meditate upon it day and night” (Ps. 1:2)? Do His Promises sustain you in
the “dark night of the soul,” when all hope seems lost?

If so, then you can testify with confidence, “God’s Word is more
valuable than 24-karat gold and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.” May
the Holy Spirit help us today to feast on His Word and invite others to His
table.
