Tell Congress to Resolve their Farm Bill Differences

Dear Agriculture,

U.S. Capitol Building

Call your legislators today!

Your Legislators are in their home districts this week for the President’s Day recess. Call their local offices now!

We are at a critical point in the farm bill process. Resolutions must come quickly or the farm bill could be stalled indefinitely.

The House and Senate have drafted separate, competing farm bill packages in response to a White House veto threat. While these packages are fluctuating, there appear to be cuts in conservation, renewable energy, and local foods spending. House proposals also omit a revenue-based safety net like the Average Crop Revenue (ACR) program included in Senate proposals. ACR provides better protection for farmers at a lower cost to taxpayers—saving a projected $1 to 1.5 billion that can be used to fund other important farm bill priorities.

Call your legislators now while they are in their home districts, and tell them you support subsidy reform and funding for important farm bill priorities!

Your U.S. Senators:

  • Blanche Lambert Lincoln - (501) 375-2993
  • Mark Pryor - (501) 324-6336

Your U.S. Representative:

  • Vic Snyder - (501) 324-5941

ArrowTell Your Legislators To:

  • Support the Average Crop Revenue (ACR) program included in Senate proposals. ACR is an optional program that provides better protection to farmers at a lower cost to taxpayers, while reducing market distortions. ACR could save an estimated $1 to 1.5 billion;
  • Increase funding for conservation programs including EQIP and FRPP;
  • Create a revolutionary new conservation loan guarantee program to provide $1 billion for farmers to improve water quality and protect wildlife habitat;
  • Provide mandatory funding for local and healthy foods programs including marketing assistance, community food projects, and value added producer grant programs;
  • Expand funding for energy efficiency and on-farm renewable energy projects by fully funding the Renewable Energy for America Program (REAP) at $500 million.

Thank you in advance for contacting your legislators this week before they return to Washington. Together we can fight for a farm bill that supports America’s farmers, ranchers, communities and the environment.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Daukas Signature
