Subject: Morning Manna (June 18); BP: Is. 55; RBTTY: Acts 4:1-22; Neh. 10-11
DEAR FELLOW PILGRIM:
Greetings once again in Jesus' Precious Name! Just wanted you to know
I'll be out of e-mail accessibility from June 19-28, but have sent the
"Morning Manna" to my brother, Lynn, who'll be sending them out for me. As
always, I pray the Lord will minister to you through them. I'll look
forward to being back with you next week, the Lord willing. God bless you!
In Jesus' Precious Love,
Bro. Tom
June 18 “Never Void or In Vain”
“For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven and returns no there,
but waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed
to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My Word be that goes forth out
of My mouth. It shall not return unto Me void—but shall accomplish that
which I please and it shall prosper in the thing where to I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10-11
Remembering this will keep us in peace when things are falling apart.
The folks in Isaiah’s day knew nothing about evaporation or
condensation; neither did they know anything about the moon’s effect on the
tide. They simply knew it took rain from heaven to make the crops grow.
And, even though they knew nothing about cross-fertilization, hybrid seeds,
nitrogen levels in the soil, etc., they knew that it was God Who caused
their seeds to grow—providing a harvest and putting bread on the table.
In reality, every farmer is a “partner with God,” whether he realizes,
admits it or not. Although farming is quite scientific nowadays, the fact
remains that every farmer is totally dependent upon God if he’s to one day
have a harvest.
The seeds come from God. The soil comes from God. The ingredients
that comprise fertilizer and weed-killers come from God. The showers come
from God. And the Grand Design of a single seed producing “multiple
offspring” is definitely from God (Jn. 12:24).
Why, then, should we think that we somehow can thwart the promises of
God? Oh, we may grieve and quench His Holy Spirit, hindering what He’s
wanting to do FOR NOW in our midst (Mt. 13:58; Eph. 4:30; I Thess. 5:19).
But, ULTIMATELY our omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent sovereign God
will have His way—and, much better for us if we’re “laboring together WITH
Him” (I Cor. 3:9) instead of fighting against Him.
Sometimes we “grow weary in well-doing” while serving the Lord (Gal.
6:9a). It seems like everything we try to do meets with opposition;
however, it’s during those times we should ever-remember today’s Manna that
God’s Word “will not return unto Him void” and “in due season we’ll reap if
we faint not” (Gal. 6:9b). Hallelujah!!
For now, our road may be rocky and steep. Heartache may quite often
temper our hope. But, be patient, weary Pilgrim—for, like the old song
“Follow Me” says, “The morning I can see; just lift your cross and follow
close to Me.”
Never forget: “Our labors are never in vain IN THE LORD” (I Cor.
15:58). Even though others may ignore, oppose or beset us, the Heavenly
Father is the Lord of the Harvest and His Word “shall accomplish (Heb.
‘asah’—‘advance, bring to completion, fulfill, etc.’) that which He pleases
and prosper (Heb. ‘tsalach’—‘to push forward, break out, be profitable,
etc.’) in the thing whereto He sent it.” Glory!! Therefore, take heart,
weary one; the Lord knows who we are. . .where we are. . .and what we
need—and HE will fulfill His promises and purposes in our lives. Amen and
amen.
